Answer options
- Absolute
- Incomplete
- Complete
- Proteinic
- Water
Correct answer
Incomplete
Explanation
Starvation is a severe deficiency in caloric energy intake, below the level needed to maintain an organism's life. It can be complete or incomplete (quantitative and qualitative). Starvation is considered complete if only water enters the organism; incomplete if an insufficient amount of food is entering the organism in relation to the general expenditure of energy; and absolute, when neither water nor food enters the organism. Esophageal stenosis (narrowing of the esophagus) will greatly reduce the amount of food taken thereby leading to incomplete starvation. It is usually marked by a decrease in body mass (weight).
